How many people have bought Primal Order: Chessboards of Possibility.
Even without owning Primail Order I have found this to be a
fascinating manual.

Anyone wishing to share ideas this stimulated, please get in touch.

I have all the Primal Order material published so far. It's probably
been the single best non-system related aid I've ever bought. Excellent
material, presented very well and with wonderful artwork. I highly
recommend you purchase 'The Primal Order', as well as 'Pawns' and
'Knights'. 'Pawns' is especially useful when you have a group that
thinks they can handle anything just because they're the equivalent of
30th level... Just toss a couple of the weakest creatures in the book at
them...maybe a pair of Abyssal Hounds, and watch them panic.

Its apparently a supplement to WotC's "cap-system" supplement of
Primal Order. I actually went to the store to pick up PO and ended up
with this book by mistake.

Chessboards: The Planes of Possibility deals with the multiverse (not
TSR's) and ways to implement planar and dimensional travel into your
games.

The author (Dave Howell) has done an excellent job in presenting new
and different ways of looking at planes beyond the good old "all
planes are infinite" BS that TSR has loaded onto the market in recent
years.

He talks about the various shapes of planes -- moebius strips (I've
had this idea for five years and only have it partly developed
myself), the "circular plane" thing, dice shaped planes (20-sided to
avoid the annoying problems of mapping circular shapes), infinite,
finite, flat and not.

He talks about travel between the planes -- different types of gates
and possible ways they might look and be used, gate gaurdians, the
"well-connected multiverse", travel methods, magic and technology in
effect to it, etc.

He even has a section on Planar Mathemetics and the different,
complex and simple, ways you can connect paralell planes...

He then deals shortly with two chapters that arguably you might need
Primal Order for, but I got the general gist of it anyways and could
incorporate the ideas without actually owning PO.

He wraps everything up, gives you some ideas, and then hands things
over to you with a Biliography and "casual reference works".

I enjoyed it greatly and have already read it twice.. which means it
will undoubtedly soon be put to use.
