hi,
my name is avi gaspan and i am a MCSE .
i work with win2k for a long time.
it is essential for me to know how to fix the next problem.

when i'm booting my advanced server it is almost stuck on
the phaze that shows "preparing network connections". it takes 10
minutes or
more before he goes on .

i tried to solve that problem my self but failed.

among the things i tried :
-disabling all my network adapters. (dont know if it's relevant)
-moving the A.D. D.B. and the logs to another partition (i didnt find
any
need to compress it 'cause it is a new installation.).

please note that this is a computer that have a lot more of the minimum
requirements, and i didnt had that problem with it the last time i
installed
win2k adv' server on it.
this computer is the only computer on the network right now and it is
dual
booting with windows 98 and professional.

SOMEBODY TOLD ME I HAVE A DNS PROBLEM - IS SO, WHAT SHUOLD I DO ?

i also know many people asking me about it.

please help !!
thanx
avi

The DNS on the delayed client is pointing to the wrong server. You have a
DNS server, don't you?

This very often is a DNS issue. You seem to indicate this is seen on
one of the DCs, which is were it is most noticed. Make sure that you
AD supporting DNS zones are being updated correctly by all of the DCs
in order to cure this. Using netdiag at each DC is a good indicator of
which are misconfigured.

There are a lot of things that can cause this problem besides DNS problems.
Go to the Microsoft web site and search both Technet and the Knowledge Base
for the phrase "preparing network connections".

The following are some of the responses, my similar problem appears to have
been with NetBT:

i have the same problem with my computer acting as a router with AD
and DNS installed,
it keeps getting stuck on preparing network connection.
have two nic's one to local netowrk the othe rto cable modem.
after disconnecting the cable mode it works.
the local nic has a static ip the cable modem has dynamic ip.
so how do i setup the dns for the cable moden coz that seems to cause
the problem.
i have to disconnect the cable modem each time i restart, then plug
it back again and i get ip dns from the isp.
is ther a work around.
