Yes the flats rocked in B37

a tremor rather than a quake

BRMB said up to Walsall also

the whole house moved and swung backwards and forwards about twice
seventh floor and scary
my heart beat very fast

I got half dressed - too much imagination was this house going to do a Ronan Point ??

No gas cookers here

It felt as if the house had been hit by a truck so looked out of windows 3 sides and got a neighbour to look out the fourth

we are close to the airport flight path so I looked for flames in the sky
quiet in all directions
no blue blink either

Fordbridge parish Solihull sandwiched betweeen Tile Cross and Chelmsley Wood along Bosworth Drive

no sleep for an hour
and I have run out of milk fopr my coffee

A glass of bovril maybe or some very old camille tea

(long past its use by date)who also reported it

so switched from Radio 3 to BRMB

In the first panic I dialed 999 very busy gave up before getting through to the police

good morning everyone

Woke me up too, it was like waking up from a nightmare even though I
wasn't fully awake I was deeply aware there was something very wrong!
When my brain came back online I could feel the bed moving back and
fourth. There was a low background rumbling just like in the films.
And so much noise from the house, it sounded alive. The central
heating gas boiler which is in the bathroom next to our bedroom was
very noisy, it was off fortuntely. But it was making a horendous
noise. I turned my head in its direction still very confused, which
was pointless as it was pitch black. Then it dawned on me what was
happening and it was quite exciting really. I just sat there bolt
upright in the bed in wonderment! But it subsided and faded way then,
the noise from the boiler was the last thing to die!

I turned to my girlfriend and said "did you feel that, I think it was
an earthquake!", she said "Yes". It sounds crazy now, but then I
wondered if it could have been a nuclear strike somewhere, what with
the recent terrorist activies, so I said "at least I hope it was".
"Trust you!" she said and then went back to sleep as if nothing at
happened.

I'm gutted that it was pitch black so I cant describe the movement. I
felt it, no doubt about that, we're talking very substantial movement,
like in a boat on choppy water. But I couldn't see anything clear
enough to descripe the room swinging or cabinets rocking.. that sort
of thing, I could hear them tho.

I went to investigate. The next door neighbour was out looking
around. And a house over the road had it alarm going off. No sign of
damage in the street. A cursory tour of the house didn't reveal any
damage here. I still dont see any new cracks or evidence of the
event! Still need to open the curtains and check the garden tho.

A quick of the net didn't real any news reports of the event so I sent
this message instead. Different story this morning though. The news
is full of it! 4.8 on the reicter scale. Quite a good one then.

I went to bed and tried to sleep. I lay there waiting for the after
shocks. According to the news there was at least two events. But I
didn't feel anything else. Got back to sleep fairly quickly! Melanie
hardly remembers it this morning. She cant really remember talking to
me, although she remembers me saying I had thought there had been an
earthquake!

Still I'm going in with a good story to tell!

Regards,

Colin
