Every time I logogg, restart, switch user or restart explorer.exe, "My
Documents", "My PC", "Trash Can" and Network icons resets themselves to
their defaults...

Any idea why?

First try this:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 30, left-hand column: 'Windows XP Doesn't Save User Settings

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

If that doesn't keep them, then try this:

Start -> Run -> Regedit

Navigate to:

"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Clsid"

Right-click the folder icon for this key & select 'Permissions'

Click 'Advanced' -> click 'Add' -> type "System" -> click 'OK'

Put a check in the 'Deny' column for the 'Set Value' permission.

'OK' your way out.

Tnx, with the registry patch didn't worked, but it did with the
permissions...

...now I cannot stop wondering why was that?

You're welcome. It seems to be an unintended side effect of one of the recent updates. When
scheduled tasks are run, the key gets overwritten.
