Damned if I know. Looked at some pdf docs on IDT's website but didn't learn
much. Same size I and D cache, though, and both have an FPU. Maybe the 4700
has some additional instructions? A newer mfg process? Both are regarded as
obsolete, anyway...
I also have a machine running with a R4700 (not a SGI machine though) and
always
thought the R4700 was meant for embedded applications. I pulled this from

With an interesting bit about reprogramming the clockrate and divisor of the
CPU module. Since I've heard of people doing this, I suppose the data format in
the EEprom is available somewhere, does anyone know where?
