I have a job-tracking database that my manager wants to auto-generate
Outlook tasks to the tech the job is assigned to.
I already setup the ability to email job info but 'that’s just not
good enough'!

We use Exchange 2k as the backend to Outlook.
Can I create tasks the same way?? (if so how??)

Hi,
Here is how to send a task:

Dim appOutlook As Outlook.Application
Dim objTask As TaskItem

Set appOutlook = New Outlook.Application
Set objTask = appOutlook.CreateItem(3)
objTask.Assign
With objTask
.Recipients.Add "someone@somewhere"
.Body = "Put message here"
.Subject = "Test"
.Send
End With

Set objTask = Nothing
appOutlook.Quit
Set appOutlook = Nothing
End Sub

Doesn't seem to work.
I get and error on Outlook.Application: User defined type not defined

The company is using Access 97 and Outlook 2000, could that be the issue
or am I just missing something?

Did you set a reference to the Outlook library?
You'll need to.

Hi,
As Steve says, you need a reference to Outlook.
Because you mentioned that you were already sending
email through Access I assumed you had done this.

When you have your reference set, you can look in the Object Browser
for all the other TaskItem properties that are available to you.
