A while back someone posted somewhere (here?) that a beta/alpha version of
Eudora for the PC was in the works. Can anyone verify that, and if so when
and where it may be gotten? I have seveal DOS users who would be very
interested in that program if and when it comes out. Thanks much!

There *is* a Eudora for PC being developed at "uiuc" (Univ. of
Illinois at Cham./Urbana. Currently most PCs use NUPop available from
Northwestern University (ftp.acns.nwu.edu).

I don't know about this but I got this from Steve Dorner:

[I've seen this program, and it sure looks like Eudora to me.
Reply to pc-eudo...@qualcomm.com, not me or the list.

This message is being distributed on behalf of Qualcomm Inc. in
San Diego, CA USA.

At Qualcomm, we are in the process of porting Eudora from the Macintosh
platform to run under DOS, and eventually, MicroSoft Windows. The program
is currently in alpha testing internally here, and at a few external sites.

We are taking a survey of the internet user community in an attempt
to discover the interest level. We intend to release this program into
the public domain sometime this summer.

The PC version is written in C++, and uses FTP Software's TCP/IP
stack. Every effort has been made to preserve the original
functionality and user interface of Macintosh Eudora. Indeed, users
of Eudora for the Macintosh have commented that it is "remarkably similar"
and that it's "funny to see Eudora running on a PC".

We have an increasing demand for PC Eudora from within our own
organization. At this time, we would like to acquire a better
understanding of the internet community's interest in PC Eudora,
in the event that we decide to make it widely available.

If you would be interested in running PC Eudora at your site, we would
greatly appreciate hearing from you.

If the prospects of running PC eudora at your site appeals to you (please
respond even if you currently do not use FTP software's stack, this may
change in the future), please drop us a note at:

pc-eudo...@qualcomm.com

and please include how many PCs this would benefit at your site. Any
additional information about your sites, your comments about
Eudora etc., as well as your title and position within your own
organization would be appreciated. In return for your response, you
will be placed on a mailing list, and kept abreast of changes in the
PC Eudora world.
