How to create or modify the hatchpatterns in SolidWorks

Go to the tools options to set your default hatch type. You can also, when
making a new part choose the material of that part so when you do make a
section view you won't have to pick the material, but you might need to
tweak it.

If you already have a particular part made with a drawing. You can RMB
(right mouse click) on the cross hatch and go to properties to change the
material, scale, & angle.

Hope that helps,
Scott B.

The details for Hatch patterns are in the file <C:\Program
Files\SolidWorks\lang\english\sldwks.ptn>
Use a text editor to modify but make a copy first as sometimes Hard and Soft
returns can cause problems if you are not careful. The format for the
patterns is shown at the beginning of the file.

Another thing you can do is to position your favourites together at the
beginning of the file and then select one as the default within Solidworks.
With these favourites precede each with and underscore ( _ ) this will force
them to list together.

*_Dots, A series of dots
0, 0,0, .03125,.0625, 0,-.0625
*_Stone, Random dot and stone pattern
50, 0,0, 4.12975034,-5.89789472, 0.75,-8.25
etc ................................

The purpose of this is that when you want to change the pattern, your
favourites are adjacent avoiding the need to scroll through the complete
list.
