On a very sad note, early this morning we lost an up and
coming board game designer and developer, Mr. Paul Randles,
to cancer. Paul has left his new wife, Katy, and his legions
of friends grieving over his untimely departure.

Paul was a close friend, and a talented game designer with
several years experience in the field. He had worked for
Wizards of the Coast among others.

He was virtually single-handedly responsible for the last
couple of Robo Rally expansions being published (including
getting many friends and co-workers to volunteer their time
to help assemble, pack, and shrink wrap the components when
WotC couldn't spare the budget for a "limited profit"
retired product.

Recently he left WotC and struck out on his own, creating
and selling to AMIGO Spiel, his game of Pirate's Cove
(published in Germany as Piratenbucht.) It is due to be
released here in North America this spring.

His latest effort is being playtested, and will hopefully
soon see publication.

Nicknamed Papa Xmas, for once showing up in July dressed as
Santa and distributing candy to all, and for the christmas
lights and free candy that always adorned his cube, he was
someone always ready to listen to you, cheer you up, and
help you figure your problems out. Paul was one of the good
guys and brightened the lives of all he touched; his passing
diminishes us all.

Farewell, my friend. I guess our next game of Warcraft II
will have to wait a while, but maybe the next time I need a
bit of divine intervention, you could put in a good word for
me, please?
