Ok, Enough.

I just saw a part of a combined making of AOTC in Greek TV (yeah, Greece:-),
which had some new scenes and dialogue, which I guess are from either the:
1.Original making ofs, 2. the official trailers 3. the Across The Stars
Video 4. Entirely new material. What came to my attention was that they
showed a particular scene (the whole scene) where Obi-wan informs
the two masters, Mace Windu and Yoda about his findings on Kamino.
I am putting here the dialogue from the AOTC script that circulates around
the Internet: the scene is like it is decribed in what I saw, EXCEPT for the
dialogue, so I can say that the script is partially legit cause the scene
does exist after all:

EXT. JEDI TEMPLE, LIVING QUARTERS - EARLY EVENING
YODA and MACE WINDU listen as a hologram of OBI-WAN stands between them
broadcasting the message. The signal is very weak, the image fades in and
out.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
...I've never heard of a Jedi
called Sido-Dyas, have you, Master?

MACE WINDU
No. Whoever placed that order was
not a Jedi, I can assure you.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
I have a strong feeling that this
bounty hunter is the assassin
we're looking for.

YODA
Who he is working for... discover
that, you must.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
I will, Master, and I will also
find out more about this clone
army... May The Force...

The hologram switches off, and OBI-WAN fades away.

WINDU
A clone army! Ordered by someone
in the Senate perhaps... Someone's
out to start a war.

YODA
Inform the chancellor of this, we
must.

WINDU
Who do you think this impostor
Sido-Dyas, could be?

YODA stares back at MACE WINDU, then slowly shakes his head.

NOW the DIFFERENT dialogue I heard goes something like this:

EXT. JEDI TEMPLE, LIVING QUARTERS - EARLY EVENING
(The room ressembles Amidala's quarters, it is dark).
YODA and MACE WINDU listen as a hologram of OBI-WAN stands between them
broadcasting the message. The signal is (not) weak, the image fades in and
out.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
...Master Sidyo-Das (could have been Sido-Dyas too but I strongly
remember the first one)
placed that order 10 years ago.

YODA and MACE WINDU look at each other like showing that they know
something that OBI-WAN
does not.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
I was under the impression that he died before/prior to that.

YODA
Don't pressume anything. Just find Him.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
Yes, Master, and I will
contact you when I have found out more about him...

The hologram switches off, and OBI-WAN fades away.

WINDU
A clone army! We have lost the ability to
control the Force to see the future.
We must inform the council.

YODA
No, only the Dark Lord of the Sith knows of this weakness.
If we inform the council multiplied our enemies will be.

MACE WINDU stares back at YODA, then slowly shakes his head.

Well, that's pretty much it. This scene shows these spoilers:
Master Sido-Dyas is a real person after all and a former Jedi Master.
All three men (Yoda, Windu, Obi-wan) know him.
Mace Windu and Yoda seem to be pretty convinced that Darth Maul was the
Apprentice.
2 questions:
1.Can this Master be one of the lost 20 Jedi Masters (like Dooku) and faked
his death?
2. Does this indicate Sidious's origins as a Jedi?

Tomorrow the show will be repeated, so I'll tape it and post the exact
dialogue here, unless this has been already discussed.

Cheers,
Iakovos:)

actually he is played by Christopher Lee and is known now as Darth
Tyranus (one rumor I heard years ago was that Lee was up for the role of
Vader in the original films but was decided he was not physically fit
for the role )

Well, that's what i am wondering. The main reason being:
IF Sidious is indeed Sido-Dyas wouldn't the jedi recognize him in the face
of Palpatine?
Does this mean that Palpatine and Sidious are not the same person after all?
IF Sido-Dyas is not Sidious then who is he? A New Sith?
He cannot be Darth Maul cause Maul was killed prior to that.
Did Sido-Dyas made a face change?

As far as I know there is no mentioning of a Master Sido-Dyas anywhere
except for the AOTC film.
The knowledge that everybody knows him (Windu, Obi, Yoda) makes me wonder.
Is he the NEW apprentice of Darth Sidious and Dooku is just an Ally?

NO. Dooku is Darth Tyrranus, the new sith apprentice. This is from one of

It was my impression that Sido-Dyaus is merely the Kamino
mispronuciation of Sidious, who masqueraded as a Jedi Master when he
made the order.

Well, I taped it and played it a few times.
I am pretty sure now that the name spelt is Sifo-Dyas, as Oliver J. Hanau
informed us.
He cannot be Sidious cause the three Jedi know him.
Wouldn't it be obvious to recognize him in the face of Palpatine?

lot of notoriety through great deeds and accomplished great actions.

... the main difference being that D'artangan's father is not a master
Musketeer but a simple Musketeer like the 3 main characters.
In the Star Wars Universe the Jedi Council is the one tool which appoints
Jedi Knights to the rank of Jedi Master.
Yoda and Windu must have known Sido-Dyas personally in order to appoint him
the rank of Master.
Now if Sido-Dyas was appointed as a Master prior to the Jedi Council being
occupied by Windu and Yoda, that's another case entirely. The main thing
here is that the Jedi Council knows WHO they appoint as a Jedi Master.
Reputation is a matter that comes afterwards. True knowledge is the key
here.

Yes, good point, but this is taken by the view that the Imperial is
referring to the Jedi religion.
Couldn't he be referring to the Sith religion?
Yes, I know that you'll tell me, the Jedi are extinct, who remains? Vader...
but Vader is no longer a Jedi.

No, the Emperor is a Sith!!! He's definitely referring to the Jedi
religion, and the fact that they believe that Vader is all that remains
of them, albeit no longer a Jedi.
I'd be pretty surprised if the Imperials weren't aware that the Emperor
is a Sith!!!!

Why the Empire isn't called then the Sith Empire?

Palpatine could still be hiding it ;)

There would be no reason for Palpatine to use force lightning against anyone
not Force sensitive.

And Palpatine does not go by the name Emperor Palpatine, of the Sith...
I am not saying that the Imperial is not referring to the Jedi religion, I
am saying that the Imperial knows that the Sith are also remnants of old
religions.

I don't really understand the point you're making.
The Empire is just the Empire. They rule the known galaxy. There isn't
any other Empire mentioned in Canon so why would they need to be known as
the Sith Empire.
It is pretty well known that the Emperor is a Sith anyway, so the
argument isn't necessary.

Yes, but it may not be readily apparent to those in the Imperial hierarchy
that he is a Sith. That is the point. Tarkin knows that Vader was once a
Jedi, but he may not know of Palpatine being either a Sith or a Sith who was
once amongst the ranks of the Jedi.

Another point is: after Palpatine creates the Empire he does not
reconstitute the old Sith Order.
Creating Sith warriors once more now that he is in control. I am sure that
he has them stuck up somewhere ;)

Okay, since I've seen the movie, allow me to answer this...

Is this enough spoiler space?

How about now?

Okay.

It's written as Sido-Dyas because that is how the Kaminos speak. I
don't know if I would call it a lisp, but they have a certain way of
speaking. Anyway, Jedi Master Sido-Dyas is never revealed in AOTC, but
if you look at how the Clone Army appear, how much they resemble a
certain army in Episodes four through six and who is in charge of that
army in Episodes four through six, the true identity of Jedi Master
Sido-Dyas should be abundantly clear.

Well, there are no Jedi to fight with around his time.
Rules should not apply now.
Palpatine should have thought about who to succeed him after his own death.

The whole point (and problem) is that Sido-Dyas DOES exist as a former Jedi
Master.
Speculation is speculation.

I presume that everyone here is posting under the assumption that Sido-Dyas
is Darth Sidious?

It seems to me that given the above, the sequence of events goes like this:

Either Darth Sidious exists from the beginning or not. Either way Sido-Dyas
becomes a member of the Jedi Council. If he is Darth Sidious then this is
done fraudulently and if not then at some stage in the future he must fall
to the dark side and becomes Darth Sidious.

He fakes his death and leaves the coucil, reappearing as Senator Palpatine,
eventually becoming Emperor Palpatine. If Windu and Yoda know of him then
perhaps they realised he was a Sith while sitting on the Jedi Council and
somehow or other had him expelled (which would be whenabouts he faked his
death).

The only flaw in the above is that the Sith are supposed to have been dead
for thousands of years. Unless... he wasn't, or they didn't know he was, a
Sith when sitting on the Jedi Council - they just thought he had slipped to
the Dark Side and had him expelled for that.

That means by the end of Ep. II, Windu and Yoda know that the Jedi Master
they knew as Sido-Dyas is the Sith Master that they are up against, although
they still don't know that it's Chancellor Palpatine.

Does that make any sense?

2 problems:

1. if Palpatine = Sidious and Sidious = Sifo-Dyas former Jedi then
wouldn't Windu and Yoda recognized Palpatine?

2. Palpatine started out in local Naboo politics when he was young (as
is Naboo tradition) and worked his way up. There was absolutely no
time and no way for him to be on the Jedi Council.

The Jedi Council didn't give the Sith any second thoughts until
Qui-Gon brought it up.

Maybe the guy was outrageously unorthodox, but they wouldn't have
guessed or known Sith.

Do we even know what "Sifo-Dyas" if he was on the Council may have
been expelled for?

If he had slipped to the Dark Side, then I'm sure the Council would
have made an extraordinary effort to bring him back, and hearing his
name later would stir up more powerful emotions than "Let's question
him" and "clouded..."

Seems to me that the Council is more confused than they were earlier.
But most of your theory does seems sound (even if I don't agree with
most of it). Ep3 should tell us whether or not we're correct.

Yeah I noticed that. I was thinking maybe he had reconstructive surgery as
part of his faked death(?).

Okay, that stuffs up the theory fairly badly. I can think of no way that
the same person could be both a disguised Sith on the Jedi Council,
Sifo-Dyas _and_ the Palpatine politician dude.

No, I'm just taking stabs in the dark. Obi-Wan seems to think that Master
Sifo-Dyas just died. Whereas Windu's and Yoda's reactions seem to imply
there was more to it than that. Perhaps his disappearance was covered up
and 'sanitised' as they didn't want anyone knowing of any high-level
corruption?

I wouldn't say "cover up" cuz the Jedi don't seem the type to sweep
things under the rug and pretend they never happened...or at worst lie
about it. I think they just flat out never talked about it. Y'know,
the silent treatment.

Yes, but the whole idea is the reason of WHY they do not recognize him
afterwards.

We still don't know the reasons of Sifo-Dyas death. And maybe he was not
expelled.

But the whole question would be greater if they had sanctioned Dyas's

The problem is solved by Yoda and Mace (plus the council) knowing that Dyas
works for them.
If he had slipped in the Dark Side to study it, then the logical thing would
be to question him of his findings.

I thought the same thing. Either that or Sido-Dyas was the Sith Lord
who came before Sidious, the one who Sidious apprenticed for. Then he
died and Sidious became the new master. But I really think that
Sido-Dyas is Darth Sidious. That would be part of why Sidious blocked
the Jedi from seeing the dark side because it would stop them from
recognizing him.
