help with internet explorer 5.5 and pop up ads

im using win98se with internet explorer 5.5 when im connected to the net
for no apparent reason pop up ads to porn sites appear on my desktop..IE
does not have to be on..i have dsl so i usually stay connect. i assume i
must have downloaded somthing while i was surfiing... my fear is my kids
will be online and these ads will automatically pop up...i have a pop up
killer but it doesnt stop them all...how do stop this from
happening...thanks

Start by grabbing a copy of AdAware and the latest signature files from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ to see if it can find the culprit.

Check for errant software :

PC-Mag requires you to register 1st time to site, do so then re-click link.
There are also forums available which provide tech support and direct
access to the authors

Install - Reboot - Run

thanks rob...i checked my msconfig file and there was this program
"rapidblaster" in my start u file...i dont rememberdownloading it or
installing it...so i first went into "add/remove programs" and when i click
on remove rapidblaster, a web page full of adult content popped up asking me
why i wanted to remove the program. i closed the window and uncheck the box
in my msconfig file...thanks for the help
