International Online Banking Account

I'm from Austria but I do get payments from different sources in America
several times / year. That's why I'm thinking about opening an internet
banking account at one of the several internet banks in the states.
That way I'll be able to accumulate the payings on this account and
transfer them to my account in europe only if a specific limit has been
reached to minimize the transfer fees.
Does this sound reasonable? And if yes, is anyone of you using an
account at an internet bank and can recommend one? Is it a problem to
transfer money to an internet banking account from within the states?
I checked several very promising services like x.com, paypal.com or even
netbank.com but they all offer their services for US residents only :(.
I'm looking for an internet banking company within the states, which
offers its services for international customers too.
Any suggestions / recommendations will be highly appreciated!
