Schiavo still on feeding tube as lawyers' battles continue
PINELLAS PARK - The feedings for Terri Schiavo continued Friday as lawyers
on both sides prepared for what promised to be more legal wrangling next
week.
Schiavo, 37, received food for the first time Thursday night after her
feeding tube had been disconnected Tuesday night. She was expected to be fed
over the weekend as lawyers prepared to take a sworn statement from Cindy
Shook Brashers as soon as possible.
Lawyers for Terri Schiavo's parents say Brashers, an ex-girlfriend of
Michael Schiavo, recently surfaced to say he told her his wife never spoke
of what to do if she ever ended up on life support.
If true, that statement contradicts Michael Schiavo's longtime contention,
supported by his relatives, that his wife told him she never wanted to be
kept alive by artificial means.
An attorney representing Terri Schiavo's parents said he hoped that
Brashers, who lives in Brandon, might make a sworn statement Tuesday.
Terri Schiavo has been in a comalike condition for 11 years. Her parents say
their daughter reacts to them during visits, but her husband believes she
hears, sees and feels nothing.
Michael Schiavo's position goes against comments Brashers made when she
called the Carrie Kirkland Show on WMTX, 101.7 FM, on Tuesday.
``I was the first girl that Michael Schiavo dated after his wife had her
heart attack,'' Brashers said. Before he filed a lawsuit over his wife's
condition, Brashers said, ``He was really into taking care'' of Terri
Schiavo.
``He was a real loud guy, and as he would go through the nursing home he
said immediately, as soon as he got near the door, her head was already
looking at the door because she would recognize his voice.'' Brashers said.
She also said that Michael Schiavo told her his wife ``would start crying
when he got ready to leave.''
But Brashers described another side to Michael Schiavo, saying he told her
that his wife had ruined his life.
Brashers said she dated him about a year and that after the relationship
ended, he stalked her at her workplace.
Robert Schindler, Terri Schiavo's father, said he learned of Brashers'
comments Wednesday and hired a private investigator to track her down.
Schindler then filed a suit Thursday, asking for the feeding of his daughter
to be resumed. According to Schindler's suit, the investigator obtained a
comment from Brashers that Michael Schiavo and Terri Schiavo had never
discussed her wishes about ending her life in the event of her
incapacitation.
Michael Schiavo called WFLZ, 93.3 FM, on Friday morning and said Brashers'
accusations are false and ``we will prove that in court.''
How can you believe her over him when you don't know either of them? This
is a case where we don't really know what's going on. Maybe her comments
are true and maybe they're not. People just like to look for any hearsay
that reinforces their personal stance.

**Everyone has an opinion and I have my Own. Of course, I can't talk with
Terri Schiavo, but I can smell a rat a mile away and I can see like daylight
her husband's odd, suspicious actions and they don't ring true to Love in my
Little book. And BTW, in my book of values and wisdom, actions speak louder
than words. Got it, Wyrd?
