A Maharishi wanna be. As I understand it, he does the same TM puja while
he teaches his stuff - even uses the traditionally used TM Guru Dev
portrait in the ceremony.

At one time he claimed to have been with Guru Dev. That was
embarrassingly shot down because he, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, was born
*after* Guru Dev had died. Apparently those little FACTS kind of become
pesky reminders that telling the truth is more reliable when making
public statements that can affect one's credibility.

Which part? After my TM experience, I took one class of Sudarshan Kriya
from a 'trained' woman disciple, which consisted mostly of rapid
breathing for way too long - and the regular speil of anything you can
read in any book about yoga. I made it a point to 'interview' her.

She was extremely unimpressive and ordinary; not unpleasant really, but
very dull. There was an abundant lack of 'life energy'; no fire. It was
like talking to Eleanor Rigby. She told me that Ravi Shankar said that
he had been with Guru Dev and that he had left Maharishi because
Maharishi had become "accustomed to Western views" and had lost his
genuine roots. She also told me that SSR Shankar uses the same puja as
Maharishi. At that time, I did some research on the internet and found
out his age. I also saw a photo of him sitting handsomely next to the
traditional picture of Guru Dev that is used in the TM puja. I've tried
to find that photo tonight on the internet without success.

That was my experience.

Well if Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a liar, then he is just following the path
of his former master Maharishi Mahesh $.

TMO's official take on this form of
pranayam that sri ravi is teaching is
"sugar-coated poison"...
those are Maharishi's words.

George,
Are you sure that this is what MMY said about it ? I was told by
one of their instructors that MMY and Sri Sri are still on speaking terms on
a regular basis.
