That new guy Mike Malloy (is it spelled right?) really sucks big-time. He
lacks passion and his voice sounds too generic. He sounds like one of those
"top 40" guys. He's boring too. This is the suitable replacement for Jay
Marvin?

He has a good side: he enunciates VERY well. Aside from that, you're
right. He sounds pure WGN. Yawn. One of those "well, yes, your opinion is
valid. Thanks for the call" types that Jay LOATHES. :-))

I doubt one will find much originality on the airwaves now that huge
corporations own everything. Radio was fun while it lasted.

100% correct! Another boring personality! No strong motivations. At
least with Dr. Laura we heard callers crying and even she cried a few
days ago, but Malloy is pure sleep inducing---well I save money on
halicon.

What the heck is going on in the minds of the station management...

I couldn't agree more, why don't they give jake hartford more time? He's
the best host on that station. Don and Roma are so boring these days, I
used to listen to WLS all the time, now I find myself surfing the stations
trying to find someone else to listen to.

Glad you did, but you spelled it all wrong. The proper spelling is:

ORANGUTANG BUTTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still miss Jay--actually, hearing Grant doing his thing makes me miss Jay
even more--but am willing to give the new guy a chance. Anyone who will take
a nice WGN voice and use it to say "piss" on the radio can't be all that bad.

Besides, he's local, he's reasonably lively, he's starting to work Grant
into the show more, and most importantly, he is *not* the Schlessinger kids'
mom.

It's fun hearing the ghost of Jay in the time slot, too--WLS had a preview of
the show late Sunday night, and the callers who remembered Jay were evenly
divided between those who loved him and those who hated him. Malloy is
walking in big footsteps, but I think he might pull it off. I'll give him a
shot.

I thought WLS was moving forward when they teamed up Roe Conn and Gary
Meier. But they took a turn for the worst. Mixing Dr. Laura with Art Bell,
Rush Limbaugh and Don Wade, and now this Mike Malloy was a stupid move.

Even Eddie Schwartz was not this bad. I'd settle for Nate Clay too.

In defense of Mike Malloy, I think his early shows weren't very indicative
of what he is really like. It seems like each show he has gotten alittle
fistier. I enjoyed the show where he started putting all the callers back
on hold and scolding them for talking over him. I also like that he rips
on Rush and Dr. Laura, because they are both terrible. What ever happened
to Chicago radio by Chicagoans? I think Mike is a great addition to WLS.
At least now I can listen to WLS at night.

I also wish Jake Hartford would get a weekly gig at WLS. After Garry,
Jake is the best thing going on WLS. I wish they would put him on instead
of paranoid alien boy on overnights. Does Art Bell even draw ratings?
The WLS syndicated shows just plain blow, AND they can all be heard on
other stations in the area. Sometimes they can even be heard at the same
time as the WLS broadcast. If they want to syndicate something, get in
touch with Jay Marvin, and replay his show on overnights here in place of
Art Bell. I also find myself searching the dial for something to listen
to very often, but unfortunatly there isn't much on, especially on
overnights and weekends. Come on, Eddie Shwartz seems to be available.
ANYTHING but Art Bell would be nice.

Uh, isn't that Malloy guy from Atlanta? Chicago radio for Chicagoans?
Let's seeee, who else sucks: Art Bell? He's just weird. Bob Brinker? You
know it! Bernie Ward? Good content even though I disagree most of the time;
his voice is irritating...Kathryn Johns? Pure crap. Reads from the
teleprompter. I've heard her do Chicago political content and she's
outstanding!
Bruce Dumont rocks! Tom Rozier? He's okay. Roe and Gary? Too entertaining
for words.
