Well, after playing LAH, it's blatantly obvious that *someone* at
DE *worships* T2.
After playing this game, I was struck at the similarity between four
previous games - T2, Lethal Outlanes and Jurassic Park. Also don't
TAF.
LAH has a T2 skill shot - but it's still really a video mode -i.e.,
shoot the helicopter when it's on the far left of the screen. You
can shoot it regarding to the position of the light.
Jurrassic Park's Raptor is also here, cunningly disguised as a 'ripper'
or something or other.
Ditto for the outlanes. These are *Mega* wide. So much, in fact, that
when I left, the tech was gonna put some posts in. I don't know if this
will make much of a difference.
There are these magnets that change the position of the ball during
multiball. Oh yeah, last absurdity - on LAH, the multiball is called
'M-ball'. Sheesh, can't they think of something original.
This game is yet *another* complete-the-rooms/panels/chains/crts/modes-
for-six-ball-multiball. This gets really boring after a while. Time
for something else, in my opinion.
Well, thats about it. Someone else can write up the rules sheet. I'm
not gonna even touch this game again. Sad really - after the success
of Jurassic Park, one could have hoped for something more original. But
it's not to be.

Oh give me a break. Not original?? You mean after sitting down for
hours and hours in a huge board meeting with lots of swearing and upset
people to do nothing but think up a name for Multiball(r) OTHER than
Multiball(r) that YOU would have come up with "M-Ball???" I don't think
so!

Do you seriously think so? Here are the possibilities I can come up with:
1) Arnold - hard to avoid including him, in fact he'll sell the game better
than the movie license itself
2) The skill shot
Umm, that's all. No kickback, no alternating ramps, no awards on the left
orbit (which I guess is vaguely similar, but an orbit to a hole is pretty
common), no bonus multipliers. Where are the mode start and Chicken scoops
on T2? Where are the captive balls and spinner on T2? I'm confused.

Well, of course it will. The outlanes will then be smaller :)

Original? Multiball is a perfectly reasonable term which someone decided
to Trademark (and register) and selectively enforce. Of course DE has to
come up with alternatives, and the more their alternatives make fun of
you-know-who, the more amusing it is :)

I may do a simple rules sheet in the next week or two.

It was so noisy at Expo, I really can't answer that question. Arnie did do
some quotes, though, like "Come Back Later".

The sequence is:
1) Ramp for Jackpot
2) Crane for Double Jackpot
2.5) 6-ball play
3) Shields at 5M each
4) Crane for Double Jackpot
5) Shields at 5M each
6) Ramp for Super Jackpot
7) Crane for Double Super Jackpot
...roughly. I'll write the Rules Sheet soon.

Three magnets.

I did like the bit you get during the match sequence, about Hamlet
"taking out the trash". That sounded like it came straight from the
movie. (Glad I saw it at Expo, since I never get to see these clever
match sequences at Broadway, the land of no replays.)
I was slightly disappointed by all of the retread STAR WARS and LW3
sound effects in this game -- I was really looking forward to some
great background music, but all you generally hear are explosions and
sound effects that have been in DE games far too long now. JD has a
much better sound package overall; I especially like the distinctive
sound of the female voice-over, and how each mode has its own set of
sound effects -- "You suck!" a personal favorite of mine in the "Bad
Impersonator" mode. By the way, does anyone understand this mode, or
is it just completely silly for no reason? I mean, what does a guy
goofing around on stage have to do wtih Judge Dredd?

It sounds like the sort of crazy thing that would show up in the JD comics,
actually, and since pretty much anything you do in Mega-City One is
illegal, bad impersonations are too, of course.
Really makes me want to go back to the comics, actually. I guess that's a
good sign.

The next sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.
LFS, Lyman F. Sheats, Jr., World Record 1,740,000,000. Best of ten games
he played fair and square. A bit out of line with the #2 score perhaps...
(it's something like 500M).

So how do they decide what those default scores are? Is this an exception
that they used a score from a real game? Did CRL score near 300M on FT
to get first spot on that machine? Do they run an internal tournament
among the contributors to see who gets what order in that list?
~dave
PS. We were only joking about outrageous default GC scores on DE machines
now that Lyman was there ... but I guess those DE readers took us
seriously :-).

As much as I want Lyman to succeed in his every endeavor :) , I think that
having a default high score that high is wrong. The point of the high score
board is to show the best local performers. To me, the only reason for
default high scores at all is to make sure that people don't pick up
high-score credits for scores that are _too_ low. If I scored over a billion
on a machine, and didn't get the #1 high score because of a _default_, I
would be most passionately pissed. :)

It seems to be pretty haphazard, and in some cases, the scores don't really
make sense. They're too low on TAF, too high on FT (for most machines at
least), etc. I think that this is definitely an exception.

It was too tempting. Not sure it's too great an idea, but it does say
"World Record" after all...
