My cat is going into heat for the first time. I was planning on getting
her spayed before this occured, but am apparently too late. What is the
normal (?) length of time a cat will stay in heat?

Cats can stay in heat anywhere from a couple days to just about continuously
for months!!!! Make an appointment and get her in to be spayed ASAP anyway!
It will cost a little bit more, but that's the price you pay for
procrastination! :) Besides, it will be much cheaper than if she gets
pregnant!
