There are no such people called Wahabbis, it is basically a group of people
who follow the Quran and the Sunnah, the name Wahabbi taken from the scholar
Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab, a reformer at the time of King Saud. People
create the image that Wahabbis are infiltrators into Islam etc, but they
simply follow the Quran and the Sunnah, people who disliked the idea at the
time hated this person and this is why people call a sect Wahabbis when
simply they are like Ahl-as-Sunnah.

Tell that to the Naqshbandi cult. They blame all their perils on Wahabbis.

This is not quite accurate to my mind. There IS a type of Islamic
practice that others call "Wahabi" or "neo-Salafi". It tends to be
characterized by a kind of puritanical, harsh legalism.

It is completely misleading to say "simply follow the Qur'an and
Sunnah, people who dislike the idea"-- basically calling the majority
of Muslims people who dislike the Qur'an and Sunnah, astagfirul'Llah!

Which is, after all, another mark of people who get labled as Wahabi
or neo-Salafi-- they sit in constant condemning judgement of their
brothers and sisters in Islam who do not agree with their
INTERPRETATIONS of Qur'an and Sunnah.

Rather, it is more accurate to say they "follow AN INTERPRETATION of
the Qur'an and Sunnah that is disliked by many, many other Muslims to
the extent that it is questioned whether or not it represents an
actual break with classic Muslim thought."

And Allah knows best.
