I get the right page and can successfully change my password *if* I'm
using a non-expired account - otherwise they get permission denied.
Truth is I'm no IIS guru either, but I've read that OWA allows this
feature and even provides an auto-redirect if it detects an expired
account. Do I need to allow anonymous users access to the page/asp
files?
A few problems with this
a) the usual installation before installing WSS or SPS 2003 is to install
the "Application Server" role for the server (which *includes* IIS 6.0)
rather than just installing IIS 6.0.
maybe there is something missing because of this.
b) there is no such thing as "Sharepoint 2.0"
take your pick between SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (v2 of SPS) and Windows
SharePoint Services (formerly v2 of SharePoint Team Services) which only
Microsoft "officially" call 2.0.
Please let us know which one you have installed and how exactly the "IIS 6.0
install" went and with which parameters if any.

FYI, it's Sharepoint Portal Services latest version, which the project
manager is calling SP 2.0 (probably 2003). Sorry about the confusion
- I've just been learning about it this past week. Probably didn't
matter to my question anyway since I'm just browsing directly to the
iisadmpwd files. Howver, I have read that OWA will redirect an
expired password to the correct iisadmpwd url - if this functionality
is available elsewhere I'd be interested to know (although as it is
now the plan is to just give out the full \iisadmpwd\aexp3.asp url,
which should be ok too).
