Hi,

I have SPS v2 installed on a machine without Active directory. The server is on a NT domain.

How can I verify the "User Account Mode" used, as Microsoft call it in "Installation Considerations for Windows SharePoint Services" document?

My basic problem: no user can get to the portal site. (all permissions on all servers, applications, etc..)

Thanks

Hi David,

The "Active Directory account creation mode" is not available as a choice
when you install SharePoint Portal Server 2003 even though WSS is
installed. The feature is only available for Windows SharePoint Services
installations.

SharePoint Portal Server 2003 will always install in "Domain account mode".

Have you assigned the users access to read the portal through the Site
Settings -> Manage Users interface?

If you are running a WSS server you can determine whether you are in AD
account creation mode by using the following command at a command prompt,
and then press ENTER:
stsadm.exe -o getproperty -pn createadaccounts
A response of <Property Exist="Yes" Value="Yes" /> indicates that WSS is in
Active Directory Account Creation Mode.
A response of <Property Exist="Yes" Value="no" /> indicates that WSS is not
in Active Directory Account Creation Mode.
