No they wouldn't. They would have to censor that part out so they do
not offend anyone :)

only one problem with your postion Mike, that problem is: You're dead
wrong. I would have to agree with you had Nintendo made the N64 a cd
system, but cartridges was a stupid move. Using cartridges will limit the
N64 to: NO FMV (full-motion-video), Sound that is NOT CD quality (like
snes, maybe a little better), and if they decide to put out games that are
multiple cartridges it will cost over a hundred dollars easily, while Sony
has three-disc games like "D" and "Psychic Detective" which are are the
same price as the one-disc games. Do you want to know why? It costs an
average of 12$ to make a plastic casing plus computer board in a
cartridge, Cd's have no computer board, and cost an average of 3 cents to
make. A perfect example of this is Audio CD's, vs. Tapes. Yes, tapes are
still around, but not because they're better, because they have a large
market, which as we speak is being taken over by cd's. Anyway, I have to
agree with you that the graphics are better, but niether system will beat
the other, they'll both be around for a long time. It all comes down to
what people are going to like more, and I have a feeling that it wont be a
system with limited variety (two whole games), quality, and a few good
graphics.

Well, after owning an N64 for three weeks, and a Playstation for over a
year now, I can honestly say that the N64 won't be wiping any floors with
anyone's butt, until they get more than 2 games out. FYI, Nintendo's game
list is dwindling down for the N64. What used to be an impressive lineup
for the Xmas season, is now not so impressive. (6 games out by xmas I
think.) So, I think I'll be playing my Playstation more and more. Mario
64 is old and repetitive.

Just wait until the PLAYSTATION 2 comes along. Here's the sneak review of
the PSX2 from ULTRA GAME PLAYERS, Issue No. 90, page 25:

"While Sony has openly admitted that there will be a PlayStation2,
details of the system have been sketchy at best. Recently however,
some of the information has leaked out. As we have come to understand
it, the codename for the chipset is 'Highlander' and it's capable of
blowing the doors off the Nintendo 64 and M2. Specs being thrown
around include 8MB of RAM, anti-aliasing, z-buffering, trilinear
mipmapping, and bilinear texture filtering, all accomplished in
hardware and able to push more than 800,000 polygons with all
features on. Details of a format are not clear, but it will most likely
be in the form of a quad speed or 6X speed CD ROM, as it is
reported to have to be backwardly compatible with all Playstation 1
software and peripherals. We've also heard that it could be
hitting stores as early as Christmas 1997 with a price tag of
approximately $300."

I don't think so........First of all the N64 is using cartridge technology
so you will not have the sound quality of the Playstation and secondly
their games will be priced from the lowest $70 to the highest $150. This
does not make me want to buy a N64.

Who cares how much the carts are. Go to your local video rental store and
rent it for 2 bucks.
As for sound quality.. no it can't do red book audio.. but the sound effects
on SM64 are very clear and very crisp. A trumpet sounds like a trumpet, and
a drum sounds like a real drum.. so the sound chip in the N64 must synthesize
these sounds very well (unless of course they are sampled).

Do you ever get out? If not, don't you get the paper, you know, with
all those Sunday inserts? I have yet to see an N64 cartridge for more
then $60, and if there are people who paid more then that, they don't
get out either.

*whistle* Personally, $60 is alot to me. I'd pay that much for a
good RPG (ala Final Fantasy) but nothing else.

Other than that, I wanted to respond the the orignal poster or rather
his subject header.

I think the Playstation is still more of a value than the N64. Sure
sure sure, go ahead and spout out all the technology issues, but I'm
not talking about just that.

N64 doesn't have any games out. And I don't see anything in the near
future (3-5 months) that I'll want to play.

I'm not saying that I won't buy it ever, but right now the Playstation
not only has more and better titles (Sorry, one title, no matter how
good can't compete with the broad range of good titles offered by the
PSX or the Saturn for that matter), but also I think its taken the
industry in an interesting direction.

I mean seriously, does anyone really think a game as evil, violent and
sinister as Resident Evil will be on the N64??

I suppose it must depend on what part of the country you live in,
because here in Southern California, none of those stores sell it for
$69.99. He isn't gonna buy any any way so I guess WHO CARES.

I would definately agree with you right now, Sony definately has the
lineup at this point, and with onlder software coming down in price
it's perfect for people who need fun and value. For your other
question about Resident Evil, hard to say, however Nintendo no longer
censors what 3rd party develpoers put out, they leave it up to the
ratings councel, so who knows.

Look I have done some pricing and have found that the most popular game
such as Shadows of the Empire will be as much as $105.00......I do rent
games but when I find a game I like I buy it and I do not want to pay as
high as $150.00 for a game.

How about Canadian prices. Let's see. $280 for a system.
99.99 for Mario 64.
That comes to around 300 dollars.
And if you want Pilotwings, add 99.99.
That comes to around 400 dollars.
And if you want MK Tril, add 99.99
That comes to around 500 dollars.
And if you want any other games, they are all 99.99.

Even so I think its more likely that Nintendo is gonna push its
developers to develop certain types of games with certain content as
they've always done in the past.

Seeing as Nintendo is aiming the N64 towards a much younger clientel,
the games will undoubtably be censored or tailored to them to some
extent.

Your PSX must be fucked up or your a lying asshole. The wait time is
no worse than playing a computer cd game .I've had my PSX sense the
Midnight Sep 8th 1995 and nothings broke and no scratched cds . You

Now I see Nintendo's target audience...

foul mouthed repulsive freaks who cannot express themselve without a stream of
unnecessary profanity. Thank you for confirming what I already new about
Nintendo and the people who buy and play it.

Now leave OUR newsgroup and go play you 3 measly titles till your fingers fall
off and your eyes start to bleed....oops I meant your ears. I forgot no
CD-AUDIO....hahahahahaha......SUCKER!

Playstation has released more game in the past 5 days than Nintendo will have
out THIS YEAR!!! I think you've been SMOKING your dad's crack!

Sorry the Nintendo 64 doesn't like making untra violent games. The
reason is that they have now adopted the Disney method. Too bad,
violence and sex sells.

NO - you are wrong. I was in EB the other day (trying to pick a game from the 7
new PSX titles JUST RELEASED (;-) ) and everyone was picking up their copy of
WAVERACE64. A whole line of people and all I kept hearing was the cashier....

"$78.55 please......." over and over. I can buy 2 PSX games for that kinda
bread and they will both be better than WaveRace. I played that thing on a demo
unit at Toys-r-Us for about 15 minutes. 15 Minutes is about all that it could
hold my attention. BORING!!!!

Maybe N64 can adopt DVD technology then they can both die together!!!

Damn right, the game is shit pretty much every PSX only racer is better
than that, and boy all the NIN had going for it was mario so all the
kids could get excited about it, and then comes along little miss tomb
raider which quite simply blows the little red twats face off, god if i
bought a N64 i would be GUTTED.

EB wasn't listed above because they are going out of buisness. Don't
buy anything from them.

The one where I live is, and I don't own an N64, I don't even own a
PSX, I couldn't post on a newsgroup with either of those.
