I am having trouble getting Netscape browsing through ISA server. Error 407
Proxy Authentication Required. What do I need to alter to get this to work
?

Redhat Linux, Netscape 6 ..

Thanks,
Neil.

If you're using Integrated authentication in ISA, you're going to remain
unhappy.
Neither Linux nor Netscape play well in that sandbox..

If I alter this will it still work as it does now or will it stop other
things from working ?

I would be grateful if you could expand your answer ....

Thanks in advance
Neil.

The problem is that the only auth methods that stay "under cover" are
Integrated and Digest. Unfortunately, neither Linux nor Netscape know how
to use them.
This leaves you two options; no auth (not great) or Basic auth (not much
better). The problem with Basic auth is that even if the user saves the
logon credentials, each link that takes them "off-site" will generate
another popup.

that really is pants!

I have tried on Digest and Basic and it only works on basic (and then it
asks for his username/password).

I take it there is no other way around it ? Even on the client ?

Thanks for the help so far.

Unfortunately, no...

If the client can't play in the Windows domain game, then user auth is a
difficult issue to resolve.

I created a protocol rule for http & https that applies to a client address
set that has the IP address of the machine with Linux and Netscape installed
in it. Then in Netscape, configure proxy settings to point to your ISA
server, port 8080 and add your Windows username and password. This is
working for the Linux users on my network. I am trying to remember if there
was anything else, but I can't remember right now. It is working with no
authentication boxes popping up.
