If you have any junkbuster or privoxy stuff running, disable it and
try

http://localhost:631/admin

again.

If I do I don't know it. How do I find out? What's that?
Thanks.

You do have localhost defined in /etc/hosts, right. Sounds like
a stupid question, but sometimes it's the too-easy answers we
overlook...

Here it is:

debian:~# ifconfig
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr
00:80:AD:09:86:ED
inet addr:24.73.103.171
Bcast:255.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.254.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500

carrier:0

RX bytes:232175 (226.7 KiB) TX bytes:85764

Answer to another question: Yes, I got localhost
defined in /etc/hosts.

Today I get another result when trying to connect to
http://localhost:631/admin

"The connection was refused when attempting to contact
localhost:631 "

How do you disable the proxy server for localhost?

Thanks Patrick, I will try that in a few minutes. I have a question, in the
directory
/usr/share/cups/model/HP
there are listed sevral ppd's for HPDJ 895Cse, more exactly I have 4 of
them. I was reading in the documentation that you must pick one. The one you
mention in your command line
lpadmin is not one of these four. I think I must be missing something.
???
Thanks,
AR

Thanks Travis, that fixed the problem. I want to add that the speed of the
interne connection has doubled (at least).
This probably can be put somewhere in a list of tips for dhcp servers.
Thanks again to all.
