Actually, it's probably easier in the winter. The snow covers up the manzanita
and talus, which are the main gripes of travellers in that area (and in the
southeastern Sierra in general).
However, picking the right time when conditions are both easier and safe is
tricky. There are HUGE (2000'+) avalanche slopes coming down from Mt. Langley
into Tuttle Creek for most of the length of the canyon.
