(kill as many monster types as possible)

This game was quite interesting until I killed the last non-wishable
monster (emperor moloch), but suffered from extreme boredom when there
were around ten monster types left. I had to kill 3802 ancient blue
dragons until I finally got those last monsters through wishes.
Putting base delay factor to minimum, auto-pickup on and running left
and right at the second last level of BDC (checking and dropping stuff
every once in a while) eventually did the job. The character was a
trollish barbarian with Wyrmlance, so the dragons died *fast*. This
was all done after closing the gate and the final stats climbed pretty
high, due to the endless amount of stuff the dragons dropped;

The monster choices, and my decision:

* Kill the (mad) carpenter and the healer or the black druid. The
first option generates two different types so I chose that (would have
chosen it anyway).

* Kill Gaab'Baay or Andor Drakon. I killed Gaab'Baay. No surprises
there.

Yrrigs was killed as a mad carpenter and Khel as a dying sage.

Random notes from various parts of the game:

The early game was quite normal, and as I was a troll, killing the
cute dog and the raider lord was easy. They are both available through
wishes, should something go wrong.

The minotaur maze gets much easier with the stuff you get from the bug
cave. Teleportation and magic mapping does a lot.

The eternal guardian doesn't follow you downstairs... and he doesn't
follow you upstairs. I lured one EG next to the upstairs, hit him
until my HP got low, then went up, to a level that I had cleared from
background corruption via scrolls of peace. Waited for full HP and
went downstairs again. After some repetition, the EG eventually died.
The one standing on the downstairs doesn't care about the RotHK if
there's another EG on the level but once the other one is dead, he
allows the PC through, and the shortcut will work normally.

The gate was closed as early as possible, and I did a lot of the stuff
after that (quickling bard, Keriax, EM etc.). Indeed, after the EM got
killed by my blessed demon slaying ammo, some of the remaining monster
types in the game turned out to be a real pain to find. A lot of
wishes were needed, which resulted in the gigantic BDC session
described above.

The last monsters included these:
Small dwarf (wish)
Djinni (wish)
Eternium golem (wish)
Fire giant king (easy, just revisited ToEF)
Giant boar (wilderness)
Dragon turtle
Giant turtle
Giant dragon turtle
Giant eel (this and the turtles from the water cave, of course)
Great black wyrm
Great red wyrm (these wyrms had to be wished for)
Greater black unicorn (wish, didn't bother to go through the trouble
of changing my alignment from C earlier in the game; seemed too
tedious, but would probably have been faster)
Ki-rin (wish)
Greater titan (found from deep CoC)
Solar (would have been easy for lawfuls, but I wished for it)
Minotaur king (wish)
Minotaur mazemaster (wish, was on my way back to the minotaur maze but
then remembered that it was closed already)
Mutated battle bunny (wish, didn't get a timely one at the bunny
level)

Understandably, it was a huge relief when I got the last wish so that
I could just finish the game.

Let's look at the character details:

Changes to the guidebook monster list, based on the kill count above
(should make progress in this challenge easier to follow):

Rename...

Baby black dragon -> Black baby dragon
Baby blue dragon -> Blue baby dragon
Baby karmic dragon -> Karmic baby dragon
Baby red dragon -> Red baby dragon
Baby white dragon -> White baby dragon
Dwarven elder -> Ancient dwarf
Dwarven innkeeper -> Dwarven inn keeper
Dwarven weapon master ->Dwarven weaponmaster

(these last two are a bit picky, but still...)

Swap...

Cutpurse and cute dog
Great water dragon and Great white wyrm
Killer bug/king cobra/ki-rin -> ki-rin/killer bug/king cobra

Add...

(symbols, alignments and abilities double-confirmed just in case)

Female dwarf (the dwarftown ones count as a different monster type):
brown 'h', lawful. Digs.

Giant turtle: dark green 'A', neutral.

Small dwarf: red 'h', lawful. Digs. Misc: wishing for Glod results in
Glod, the small dwarf. Normal small dwarves can be wished for.

Tiny girl: dark red 't', lawful. Misc: assigns cute dog quest.

Hope these additions turn out to be helpful,
--
Pete

I'm shocked that Petri was the first to complete this

Done. I have a question here. Currently, the
Guidebook has different colors for baby vs regular red
dragons (making red baby dragons indistinguishable
from fire drakes), blue dragons and black dragons. Is
this correct or an error?

All done. I would appreciate someone double checking
the HTML, just in case.

This is correct.

That's absolutely correct.

I'm shocked it took him nearly _two_ weeks to post the VP.

Not me. Pete plays slowly, and it's a long and boring game.

(Unlike my hurthling barbarian challenge - my goal was to eat one of
everything I saw. That was fun, even if I did wind up deliberately
sickening, poisoning, cursing, dooming, and corrupting myself so many
times I lost count. There's something just COOL about a short guy in
tattered clothing sneaking around, throwing rocks at people's heads,
putting them in a pot, and eating them.)

Heh. Did you manage to eat a dwarven child and the dwarftown priest? ;)

Child, I think so. Many uniques did not leave corpses, though, so
couldn't be eaten. This made me sad.

I actually backed up the game at one point and killed Tywat again and
again, hoping for a corpse, before giving up, restoring my original game,
killing him (again, no corpse) and going on to eat cute dogs and baby
water dragons in my misery.
