At the end of the stand-up meeting yesterday we came to the
conclusion that Pair Programming is not only more enjoyable,
more intense, and (appears to be) more productive than Solo
Programming; but that it also instills good oral hygiene,
reduces caffeine dependency, and functions as a weight
loss program. ;)

Some observations which lead us to this hypothesis:

- before pairing sessions we notice that people are
either brushing/flossing their teeth and/or using
mouthwash to avoid "dragon" breath

- during pairing, folks are too busy to make trips
down the hall to the "no-no machine" and tend to
only drink water to maintain their "mountain fresh"
breath

However, as with all diets, once the session is over
your carriage turns back into a pumpkin and you're
left to your own (de)vices...

The title of this article reminded me of Epicurus. As Alain de
Botton puts it:

>He recommended that one try never even to eat alone. "Before
>you eat or drink anything, consider carefully who you eat or
>drink with rather than what you are to eat or drink: for
>feeding without a friend is the life of a lion or a wolf."

I don't know whether this reasoning would transfer to coding,
though.

Code is an illusion. Only assertions are real.
