Big Medicine at Bynum General Store

Just wanted to let you know that you'll have an opportunity to get your
old-time music prescription filled on Monday September 10 when Big Medicine
comes to the Bynum General Store.
Bynum, North Carolina has a long-standing tradition of musical performance,
and the Bynum General Store is a fascinating venue. Along with its
historical significance, it is still a primary social center for community
life, with people wandering into the store to gather around the checkerboard
and visit with one another on a daily basis. Like many privately owned "Mom
& Pop" shops, the Bynum General Store has suffered somewhat as a result of
competition from larger grocery store chains, convenience stores, and so on.
So owner Jerry Partin decided to begin offering live music on the store's
front porch.
The music happens weekly on Monday evenings at 7 p.m., and features
performers in a comfortable, intimate venue. Following each concert is a jam
session open to anyone with an instrument or voice. In the event of rain,
the events will be moved indoors. Folding chairs or blankets are recommended
since seating is limited. The Bynum General Store is located at 950 Bynum
Road, not far north of Pittsboro, NC. For further information and
