Hello,
As I have a Barber Tone Pump and have not experienced radio stations
through it, lets get some questions answered....
1) has the Tone Pump always received radio stations, since the first day you
got it, or has it started recently receiving radio signals but originally
didn't?
2) if you answered in #1 that it recently started receiving radio, what is
different now about your equipment, setup area, room, etc, from earlier?
3) have you tried a new battery?
4) have you tried different guitar cables to see if a cable is acting like
an antenna?
5) have you tried plugging the Barber Tone Pump pedal into the wall with an
adapter?
6) have you tried different wall outlets in several rooms with your amp
and/or pedal? Does the Tone Pump pick up radio no matter what room it's
used in, or just in a certain room, or with just a certain wall outlet?
7) is the amp and any extension cord you're using grounded?
8) do you live in a house or apartment and is anything different know in
terms of layout, room arranging, other new equipement being used, etc, that
may have a bearing on the Tone Pump picking up radio signals?
9) have you asked the Barber Tone Pump folks about this? What is their
response?
10) is there a new radio transmitter tower or relay station in your
neighborhood?
11) are all cables used from your guitar to the pedal and to the amp
"guitar-grade?" Are all your cables of good to pro quality and previously
were used with no radio stations being picked up?
12) is the Tone Pump the only pedal you use? If you say no, have you tried
disconnecting all other pedals and just tried the Tone Pump?
13) do any of your guitars with the Tone Pump make a difference in the
ability of the pedal to pick up radio signals? Are some guitars virtually
silent with the pedal and no radio signals, while other guitars in
conjunction with the pedal pick up the station right away?
14) when you play next time, try arranging the way your guitar cord and any
cables from your Tone Pump to your amp lay. When the cables are coiled up,
does this affect the ability of the pedal to pick up radio stations? Does
moving the cables around affect the radio signal at all?
I hope these questions help. I just got back from rehearsing tonight,
and played my Tone Pump plenty - no radio signals to report from my end.
Let us know how this all shakes out for you. Good luck!
