Chicago’s Porter Named
USPV Offensive Player Of The Year

OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL., May 1, 2002_ Chicago Thunder outside hitter
Kristee Porter has been named the 2002 United States Professional
Volleyball (USPV) Offensive Player Of The Year.

Porter, a former two-time All-American from UCLA and the 2000
Volleyball/Asics National Player Of The Year, scored a league-high
345.5 points in 18 regular season matches. Porter led the league in
scoring at 19.2 points per match (4.7 points per game).

Her 345.5 points included a league-best 289 kills, 32.5 blocks and 24
aces.

In those 18 matches, Porter eclipsed the 20-point mark a league-high
nine times, including a season-best 32 points in a match against Grand
Rapids.

Porter has scored in double figures in all 22 Thunder matches this
season, including the playoffs.

Porter was named USPV Player Of The Month for February and was also
selected as USPV Player Of The Week on two occasions.

Chicago and Minnesota are currently tied 1-1 in the best-of-5 USPV
Championship Series. Match 3 is Thursday at Saint Xavier
University’s Shannon Center in Chicago
(7 p.m. match time).
