Berg Named USPV Outstanding Setter
Nabs Second Postseason Honor
OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL., April 26, 2002_ Minnesota Chill setter Lindsey
Berg has been named United States Professional Volleyball (USPV)
Outstanding Setter for the 2002 Inaugural Season.
Berg, a former star at the University of Minnesota, won her second
postseason award this week. Berg was also named USPV Outstanding
Server.
In 18 regular season matches, Berg averaged 41.3 setting assists per
match and led the league with 743 total setting assists
(league-leading 11.4 assists per game).
Including the playoffs, Berg has totaled eight matches with 50 or more
setting assists, including a league-record tying 66 assists in a match
against St. Louis.
In the semifinal playoff series against Grand Rapids, Berg, the USPV
Player Of The Week in Week 3 of the regular season, averaged 49.7
setting assists.
Minnesota, the USPV regular season champion, opens the best-of-5 USPV
Championship series Sunday against the Chicago Thunder at 3 p.m. at
the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium.
