Pat Powers Volleyball Clinic - Boston, June 8-9

On June 8-9, Olympic Gold Medallist, Pat Powers will conduct a two day
SKILLS VOLLEYBALL CLINIC at Bridgewater State College. The clinic is for
adult and junior players, both male and female. The clinic will run from
9:00 AM-5:00 PM on Saturday and 9:00 AM-2:00 PM on Sunday.
"In the past at the Boston Clinic I have focused on the basic skills
of the game. I will include that as part of this clinic, but it will be
done in a condensed form as to give time to the teaching of new directions
and thoughts in the evolution of setting, defense and blocking strategies."
"One of the biggest areas we will concentrate on is the development of
peripheral vision as it relates to attacking and keeping the block and
defense in your field of vision."
"Two other concepts I will introduce will be 'Setting against the flow and
Read Blocking' by the defense. Both important techniques for a successful
team."
"Another element I have participants learn is how to think three
seconds into the future. It is one of the key concepts in team
sports."
QUESTION: What about the skill level?
ANSWER: All clinics and camps have a variation of skill level.
To accommodate this phenomenon I have developed clinics that
place an emphasis on repetition as opposed to competition.
The Boston clinic will include a high degree of repetition,
but in order to teach the above strategies, we will divide players up on
three courts according to ability."
