Many here will remember Larry Eden a.k.a. Lambchop, the extrovert fan
with the RTR hat who supported Bob fervently through his bad days in
the early 90s. Many boots of the period feature Lambchop's
enthusiastic shouting, especially "They Don't Deserve It", named after
his interjection. Even Bob acknowledged Lampchop from the stage. I met
him on several occasions throughout the 90s at Dylan concerts.

The last time I saw Lambchop was at the John Green Memorial Day in
Northampton last year. He was selling some of his collection of
records, books and memorabilia in order to finance a ticket to India,
where he was moving because of his health. He certainly didn't look
well, although he was exuberant as ever.

Andy Muir has just contacted me to say that Lambchop has now been
diagnosed with terminal cancer. His friends are organising at his
request an auction of the rest of his collection (and that famous
hat!) so that he can spend what time he has left in as much comfort as
possible.

Anyway, I'm sure r.m.d will join me in their prayers for Lambchop. If
you contact me I'll pass on your message to Andy Muir, and I'll give
more details of the auction as they emerge.

I'm extremely sad to hear the bad news about Lambchop. I met him a few
times at Hammersmith and at Finsbury Park and at the Leicester "get
together". Dylan gigs just wont be the same without Larry there. He
wont remember me,
but we remember him. He epitomises the true Dylan fan. A good, decent
guy
with a great sense of humour and commitment to the cause. He'll be in
my prayers. To his family and friends my deepest respects. Stay
strong.
Has anyone told Bob?

I passed on the news of Larry's illness to a couple of people with
links to Bob's organisation. Since Bob's acknowledged Larry from the
stage, he should know he's so sick.
