Its previous home was a branch in tcl's CVS; the stupid name S4 stuck
....
I have decided to open a new SF project hoping to find it easier to keep
up to date with changes in the rest of Tcl's source tree while avoiding
any risk of polluting the main tree.
Right now I have only uploaded the version corresponding to the latest
tcl release, Tcl8.4a3. More in the very near future.
So:
- if you want to see what it is about: download it, read the
READMEs (minimal,
will improve ...), try it out - you'll have to compile it
- if you want to contribute minimally: you can file bug reports,
upload benchmarks,
do the SF dance
- if you want to contribute more than that, welcome - get in
touch!
Early benchmark reports show a noticeable improvement in bc engine
speed. This is most noticeable in tclbench in DATA, LOOP, EXPR, KLIST,
HEAPSORT, MATRIX. Most other benchmarks are unchanged, STARTUP is a lot
slower (undetected bug?).
Enjoy
