rrdtool concerns of accuracy/quality/verification

There have been a few voices recently raising the issue of rrdtools
accuracy and if it is giving correct results. Most of these threads
have gone unanswered. We have raised issues about the rrdtool tutorial
being wrong and given other examples showing wrong values.

One of the concerns is that if the sampling period you are using is
not matching rrdtools interpolated/extrapolated sampling then your
results might not be correct.

Has anyone else had similar issues?
Does rrdtool run any verification procedures for each release?
