Update - Wednesday 19 November 1997

Paddy is walking past the post office when he bumps into Kelly.
She tells him that she hasn't told her father anything - not yet!.

Emma goes to school without having breakfast. Will tells his parents
that she is upset about them bringing Jerrie home for the day without
asking her first.

Doug asks Betty if he can borrow the spare key for Cathy's house. He
tells her he has a surprise for Cathy and needs to get into the house.
Betty gives him the key.

Lisa is laying down the law at the Dingle household.
She tells the family that she cannot afford to pay the bills and tells
Butch that he will have to find himself a job.
Zak tells Lisa that he cannot work as the van needs a new clutch. Sam
tells him that he knows somewhere he can get a clutch.

Paddy tells Zoe that if she wanted a baby she could have asked him
rather than go to a clinic.

Betty goes round to cathy's to see what Doug is up to.
Doug won't let her in but tells Betty that Cathy will get a nice
surprise.

Zoe and sophie go to the clinic for an interview to see if they will
be accepted for artificial insemination.

Steve is looking after James whilst Kim is away on her business trip
to New Zealand.
Roy turns up and tells Steve that he needs help at the holiday
village. Lisa arrives and asks Steve if he can find a labouring job
for Butch at Home Farm. Roy needs help so he agreed that Butch can
start working at the holiday village.

Sam is working in the tea rooms.
Dee asks him what he has been doing. Sam explains that he has been
cleaning out the cellar and has had to throw out a load of old wine.
Dee asks him what he means and Sam explains the wine had labels on
with really old dates.
Dee calls him a fool and sam tells her he is only joking. Dee tells
him that he isn't paid for telling jokes.

Betty tells Cathy that she is for a surprise later in the day. Just
then Eric tells Cathy that there are workmen going in and out of her
house. Cathy rushes off to see what is happening.

Lisa tells Butch that she has found him a job.
Zak doesn't want Butch to work and tells Lisa that he and Butch are
free spirits.

Cathy finds that Doug is having her house redecorated and tells him to
get out.
She complains that Betty had no right to lend Doug the spare key.
Doug explains that he only wanted to please her. Cathy tells Doug that
she finds he is getting creepy and she doesn't like it.

Jack tells Billy to mind his own business when he buts into his and
Ned's conversation. Billy has made some comment about Jack's break up
with Sarah.
Jack tells Billy to keep away from Sarah, Billy replies that will be
hard as he works at the farm. Jack solves the problem by sacking
Billy.

Cathy tells Betty off for loaning the spare key to Doug.
Doug tells Cathy that she is over reacting.

Vic pulls Paddy and Paddy thinks he has found out about him and Viv.
Turns out that Vic is only kidding and has pulled Paddy because he
gave him an Australian 50p that morning.
Vic tells Paddy that he shouldn't be so tense and suggests he asks Viv
for a massage.

Emma is going through the draws in the kitchen and comes across a box
of baby things. She takes the box out.

Turner asks Terry what he wants to do for Christmas.
Turner suggests they have a Christmas lunch and ask a few friends
around.
Mandy overhears and asks if she is invited. Alan tells her that he
would have thought she would be having her lunch with the Dingles.
Mandy asks if all the Dingles can come.

Paddy tells Biff the story about him and Viv but explains that he
never touched her. he also tells Biff about Kelly wanting money.

Jack is babysitting and turns up to find Victoria already in bed.
sarah tells him that it was passed Victoria's bed time.
Robert tells jack that he doesn't want to play any games with him and
storms off to bed.

Becky finds that Emma has thrown out the baby stuff. She tells Emma
that they may need the gear for Jerrie. Becky thinks that Jerrie
should be back with their family.
Tony tells Emma that he and her mother are going to adopt Jerrie and
Emma objects telling them that it will never happen.

Dee tells Eric that she doesn't want Sam working for them and explains
that they cannot afford his wages. Eric explains that he paid sam's
fines and thus Sam is working for Eric until the money is paid off.
Dee wants Eric to increase Sam's wage so he finishes off sooner rather
than later.
Eric informs Sam that he has had a wage rise.

Its girls night out at the wine bar, Sarah, Jan, Cathy, Sophie and Zoe
are there.
The girl talk changes to Cathy's run in with Doug and mentions the
fact he is married.
Sarah asks her if she is seeing a married man.

Zak tells Butch that he doesn't want him to take the job. Zak reckons
that by working its like the Government having an electronic tag on
him. A records for tax and national insurance would be created and
thus the powers to be would be able to track him.

Sam brings a clutch into the Woolpack and gives it to Zak.

Kelly asks Paddy to buy her a drink but Biff offers instead.

Back at the wine bar, Jan is arguing with Sophie and Zoe about their
relationship. Zoe announces she is trying for a child by artificial
insemination, Jan thinks it's disgusting.
Sarah comes back from the toilet and announces she is going home.
Cathy asks her to stay.
Sarah gives Cathy a lecture about affairs.
Cathy tells Sarah that she knew about Jack and rachel but Rachel had
asked her not to say anything.
Sarah asks the others if they knew before her, she gets no reply and
tells them at least she now knows who her friends are.

And that's how it ended, in tears as usual :-)

Well Lisa, I wouldn't want to argue with you, but I'm sure it was
Australian.
The tie in would be that this was just after the Woolpackers came back
from Australia.
Anyone else like to have their two penath (or 50p's worth) - I know
its a long time ago :-).

Sorry, Steve, but it was definitely an Irish 50p. Anyway, don't they
have dollars and cents in Oz nowadays?

I don't remember the scene, but in Australia the currency is Dollars and
Cents, so what exactly is an Australian 50p ? :-)

Sorry, Stevee, but I have to agree with Lisa, it was an Irish 50p - I
remember thinking this when I read your update! This doesn't mean to say
that your updates aren't excellent; they're far better than I could do
any day. I always read them even if I saw the programme in question as
you often notice things that I'd missed!
