I assume you're talking about Laurel Bloomery, Tenn.?? I can't
remember all the places, but Benton Flippen won the band and the
fiddle contest. Other fiddle winners included Lucas Paisley, and a guy
from Knoxville who also placed in banjo. Other banjo winners were
Brian Fain, Debbie Grim and Nancy Corey. Other bands winners were The
New Pilot Mountaineers(Steve Mason), The Wild Turkeys(Cindy Cook), The
Blue Ridge Mtn Ramblers(Lucas Paisley)and the Moon Pies(Debbie Grim).
That's all i can remember, sorry if i left you out.
This is a great little festival, all old time and real laid back. It's
been growing every year and more of ya'll should come next year!!

That's as it should be. Benton was in fine form. In the immortal words
of the late Harold Hausenfluck, referring to Benton or Otis Burris (I
can't remember which) "He's smooth. He's even smoother than I am!"
