I think the Deskbar will be very useful; I love being able to hit
Ctrl+Alt+G and search. My only complaint is that I see no reason for
it to be in the task bar since I always access it with the keyboard
shortcut; it just takes up valuable real estate on my taskbar, which
is already 3 rows high (I tend to run a lot at once).

I would greatly prefer if it were possible to run it as a program in
the system tray that opens a small textbox when you press Ctrl+Alt+G.

Yeah. Windows already supports this behavior.

1. Close all your windows so you can see the desktop
2. Unlock the taskbar (right click on it and uncheck lock)
3. Click on the | thumb and drag the Deskbar onto the desktop.

It's now in a floating window. When you press Ctrl+Alt+G this window
jumps to the front.

I have two simple questions:

a) In Windows 2000 Pro English, I see no Lock/Unlock choice by
right-clicking on ANY part of the taskbar at the bottom of my Windows
screen.

b) Step 3. What is "the | thumb". Could you be more explicit?

Ah yes. This may be an XP feature, so your taskbar is already unlocked
and you can igore this step.

I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's the verticle line that you
use to resize the deskbar. You can click and drag it out of the
taskbar area.

Hope this helps.
