Great marketing strategy Alliance. You really care about this
product, don't you?
Most famous product they've yet had, so you'd think they ought to care
more.
Or perhaps it's not that they don't, it's that they can't do any better
than this yet.

*I* own my Usenet postings, not some archival service!
The DVD that the other person found in a store was definitely "Call of
the Wild" and not the Pilot, so I don't know what's going on.

Are you serious?
Ahhh man, this really sucks. I should just order it from all three
sources to see what I end up with.
I'd like both. I'd like extras, but I'll settle for getting
something, for crying out loud, but I'll be pissed if they're not good
quality. Then I'll be convinced that Alliance is just using us,
because they know they have a ready made, albeit small, relatively
speaking, market. We're so desperate, we'll buy anything.

Yeah, well, from what I understand, the "Call of the Wild" DVD that the
person found in a store was priced at only $8.00. For that price, I'd
be very wary of the quality. On a website I found this disc attributed
to something called Platinum Disc Company (and NOT Alliance-Atlantis),
so I don't know if it'll be worth it. My plan is to sit back and see
what Alliance-Atlantis releases with its Season 3 and 4 package(s).

I've seen various things on extremely cheaply priced DVDs lately. I
bought the pilot movie for the old "Crime Story" show from the '80's,
starring Dennis Farina, in a music store for only seven bucks. It's
watchable, but the picture quality really isn't good and they altered
the opening credits sequence. So, I guess I could say that I got what I
paid for.
Okay, that's really weird. Has AAC authorized this company to make
the DVD equivalent of a cheap paperback book? Or are some companies
selling bootlegged DS DVDs?
Patty
Please say a little prayer for "North of 60" fans while you're
waiting to see what AAC does with the DS releases. We were finally
supposed to get Season 1 in November, but a couple of weeks ago,
AAC postponed the release with no new date given yet. :-(

You must be having a serious case of deja vu.
Since Season 3 was supposed to be out in November also, maybe
something's up with that department. And here we were hoping we'd get
something special.
Lillian
Yeah, I noticed the delay in the DS November release, too. Dunno
what's going on. They're going to miss the big Christmas sales
season if they don't release these things on time!

I, too, found this dvd through the same retail chain, but in a
different location than the others mentioned. The packaging is
excellent and vewing quality is very clear. Certainly worth the price!
All of the scenery shows to be quite breathtaing on my 55" big screen
TV. <g> Sadly, however, no extra features, nor the famous Canadian
version of "the kiss" scene. Although, processed and packaged by the
Platinum Disk Corporation, Le Crosse, WI, it is deffinitely a
Alliance/Atlantis product. It can also be pre-ordered online through
various dvd retailers.
The real perplexity is the complete lack of any promotion by
Alliance/Atlantis. And why this single release of the last series
episode before the remaining ones?
Sandi
FYI, Barnes and Noble has this on their online store.
