For me it's for pure nostalgic reasons.

For me, it's getting together with good friends. Whenever I type a fanfic
it's like going off on an adventure with comrades-in-arms. A writer throws
one's self in with the characters. You suffer when they do and revel with them
in their victories and accomplishments -however small. Stuff you don't agree
with in the cartoon and comic, you can write it however it appeals to you.
(Nobody is everything ALL the time. One must be good in order to be bad, and
all the shades of grey in between...)
When I draw, I enjoy bringing out special nuance in a character. Megatron
caught in a pensive moment? Is that admiration in Starscream's optics? Or
Nightbird portrayed as the embodiment of Beauty and Death frozen in a shining
moment of attack... *Chuckle* Did I create pictures for your mind's eye to see?
If you did, you got a glimpse into my world. It's called imagery.
Fanfiction inspired by illustrations and other fanfiction; illustrations
inspired by fanfictions and other illustrations. It goes hand in hand. What an
incredible world to lose one's self in, -even if just for a little while... ;)

Oh decisions decisions.
Plus I just think the overall quality is not what it was in the mid
80s. Not that RID or Armada are bad toys, but compare them to the
first 3 years of G1.
