Derek Smart, the proven fraud and forger of racist email, is a super genius
programmer after all. He has single-handedly implemented a new game title in
only three months, BCM Gold!

"I single-handedly and painstakingly created over a three month period - in
between writing and testing the supporting code - while also (a) working on BCG
(b) doing pre-production on GCE (the XBox title), (c) research technology
advancements and pre-production for BCO (the MMOG version) *all* simultaneously
[...blah-blah-blah-blah]"

"Welcome to Battlecruiser Millennium Gold, the fourth commercial release of this
long running series."

If this series keeps running any longer, people will need to start buying
wide screen monitors just to be able to talk about it...
Battle Cruiser Millenium Gold Super Extended Deluxe With Sprinkles ...

With each "new" release selling half the units, by the time he gets to
BCMGSEDWS, I predict it will sell 1/2 unit.

actually, getting 4 "commerical releases" out of one basic kernal, kinda makes
good business sense.. too bad his coding, marketing and customer service skills

Depending on the context, I'm sure that you're correct.

Yes it is true that it is wise and thrifty to reuse software whenever possible.
Except BC3K 1.0 fully patched was essentially the same as BC3K 2.0 and BCM:G is
essentially the same as BCM with the addition of multiplayer which was promised
in BCM but never delivered. So that is really 2 titles not 4. Other developers
don't claim that a "Gold" release is a new title. Heck if that were the case
then I've seen a half dozen different "titles" all called Heroes of Might and
Magic 2. Actually in the past (IIRC) Derek tried to say that BC3K 2.0 was 3 or 4
releases because he had different distributers for the USA, Europe, Asia, and
somplace else (Australia?)

The good folks over at QTT, obviously are not the least bit interested in what I
have to say. I participate in Derek's Flame War Follies for personal amusement.
Now I do believe that academic fraud is disgusting but I do (did) enjoy
convincing others that Derek was in fact an academic fraud simply because of
Derek's amusing reaction.

It's *not* the "War Against Iraq," genius-boy. It's "Operation Iraqi
Freedom." Lots of time and effort has gone into this title -- the least
you could do it try to remember it. Hell, we even had posters and
special stationery printed.

> I wonder where he'll be in the "War Against Syria".

That'll be a tough sell. "Operation Syriaqi Freedom" would have low
brand-name recognition. Also, "Syria" sounds kinda like 'syrup' . . .
just not evil enough. Do you think we could get them to change their
name to something like "Nazi Germany?"

Derek will run something similar. If it's just going to be the exact
same game with Multiplayer added then I agree with the people who say
it should be free, because as far as I remember, Multiplayer was
promised as a follow up patch. I imagine it'll have different features
included though, to justify another price tag. Anyway, i've long since
lost the reg number or whatever it was that came with BCM so I won't
have proof of purchase.

I hate fucking Pixan :)

I can't relax knowing that bastard is out there right on my doorstep

latest wheeze is to load up my FC's with vagrants, jump in FC1 and
drag us all out for some hunting. Pixan, of course, wiped us all out
without breaking sweat, but i've had a lot of good results against
enemy fleets out at Sirius.
Do you know what I did yesterday? I am such a wanker. I took out all
the FC's, but after a lot of fighting a couple of them stopped
responding to orders. I wanted to keep all the EP's i'd earned so I
called out the CC and docked, then went and tractored them in only to
find the crews dead, 2 pilots 2 co-pilots. I went back to Galcom,
cloned them, and spent ages repairing all my damaged craft and
stocking up on stuff again. I suppose the whole exercise took about 2
hours. I logged out of the station, and just as I was about to save
the game, I noticed a little lump of dried gunk on the keyboard (food
or something), so I picked it off. It was the Windows menu key and it
dumped me straight out to the desktop! The game carried on in the
background but when I tried to switch back to it, it just crashed!
Two hours shot! Down the drain!
Apart from trying to switch out (which it hates), the game's still
solid, no crashes at all.
