It'd be nice if ace could get some sort of an event there so we could
enjoy the park one last time. I have very fond memories of Hillcrest
from my one visit there even though I didn't ride the coaster. They
had a fun carousel, mini golf course and I loved their train.

Don't hold your breath on that. Since ACE isn't very family oriented,
I see the chances of this as very slim. I need to figure out a way to
hit the two Illinois kiddie coasters next year, it sounds like.

I'll work on it with my Rep Darin Bolton. It would be great to get in
and ride these. Hopefully someone will buy the coasters to preserve them.

Are they going to auction off the rides and sell the property for
development, or is it possible someone could buy the park as a whole and
continue to operate it as a park?

Hillcrest is closing due to rising land values and the growing
industrial area is right on Hillcrest's property line read to branch out
further.
At the present Hillcrest line up includes
PTC Little Dipper Coaster
Mangels Kiddie Whip
Herschell Helicopter Ride
Arrow Carousel
Duce Bumper Car ride ( 16 cars )
2 Steam Trains and 2 CP Huntington trains and 1 1/2 miles of track.
Miniature Golf
Swimming Pool
Picnic Pavilions
Small Arcade with the old Skee Ball
The park cannot be saved. Owners have decided to sell the property. The
land is worth a fortune. Picnic sales have been tapering off over the
years and in 2001 Hillcrest was open less than 40 days...
The profit is no longer there..
The owners are looking to sell the rides themselves.
An auction for 6 rides they feel is silly. NAPHA has been in touch with
several smaller amusement parks and indusrty leaders informing them of
these rides that will soon be available.
The last I heard Hillcrest will be open to September of 2003 and will
have 90 days once the park is closed to remove the rides.
The small rides can be dismantled & stored in a matter of a few days.
The coaster and the train are the bigger problem to remove.
We at NAPHA hope all the rides can find new homes so future generations
can enjoy them..
THE PTC coaster is a mirror image of the Little Dipper at Kiddieland in
Melrose Park.

I'd definately be there. Always been meaning to get out that way to at least
have a look at the place, but never got around to it.

Finally, one day it was discovered that through an error in our accounting
department, we had inadvertently missed three payment's on our roller

I'd certainly try!

If it's scheduled at a time when I can go, I'd love to do so. I'd
probably want to make a weekend of it, with side trips to the other
area parks and/or other Chicago-area stuff.

I would definitely do the same. Hillcrest (to which I've never been)
and as many other area parks as I could manage on the same (possibly
long) weekend.
