Java Landscape". Then, the featured presentation is from Ben Sullins on

Java Essentials: Applet, Servlet, Midlet... Surveying the Java Landscape
Presenter : Chris Smith
========================================================================

Don't get overwhelmed with all the places you can write Java code. We'll
survey the whole Java landscape, showing how you can write Java code for
anything from the tiniest hand-held devices to the largest
enterprise-wide distributed software systems. We'll walk you through the
terminology, the APIs, and the tools to put Java anywhere you wish.

Feature Presentation: JMX
Presenter : Ben Sullins
=================================

This presentation will introduce you to the concepts of application
management and the need for JMX ( Java Management Extensions ). The
presentation will then introduce JMX, its architecture, and features. In
the process, you will learn about the different ways (and different
reasons) to incorporate JMX into your Java applications to provide
management and/or monitoring of components down to the object level. The
presentation leaves time for question and answer, so get your JMX
questions ready.

Ben Sullins is a senior Java developer concentrating on J2EE
technologies. He is the co-author of JMX in Action from Manning
publications, and the soon to be release EJB Cookbook also from Manning.
Currently working at Level 3, he lives in Superior, Colorado
