Had lunch there today at the coaxing of my friend Rose. She knows I
always have a hankering for great cooking at low prices. I've never had
a serve yourself Mexican buffet. This place's cooking style is less
traditional and more like someone's mom has done the cooking for a
holiday/large family gathering. I've had a lot of different food in many
Pilsen restaurants and so far Juana's is my favorite for homecooked
style food.
The restaurant is housed in what looks like three storefronts. Lot's of
tables and also some banquet sized seating all in a large open air
room(s). It's steam table buffet.
When you enter you pay 4.58 This includes all you can eat buffet, one
softdrink and a pitcher of water on your table.
The menu today included:
tostadas
vegetable soup
Pollo En Mole
Chile Con Carne
Pork Guisado(Stew)
Beef guisado
Ribs (costillas)
Fried Chicken
A spicy sausage and peppers
roasted veggies
Albondigas (spanish meatballs)
pasta w/fresh cheeses
...and also flautas, rice and beans, three different fresh fruits, lots
of different fresh salads, hot tortillas, chips, salsa.
The place is clean, the help is attentive.
Their hours are 11am-8pm.
No liquor, but you can BYOB.
I'll go back with a group next time.

Count me in I like the place too.
This sounds like it would make an excellent spot for a lunch gathering.

Someone call a date and time.
I just agreed to go on the Atkins diet so I'm out sorry.
hehe.
Well, good luck and more powr to you, if you can stand it... I could
barely make it through the 2 week Induction phase. Life without bread,
pasta, rice, even in tiny portions, wasn't worth living!
YMMV.
Thanks for the support I am taking the "special" induction part for the more resistant porko's
Thanks bearhair I signed up for the group and you are right, they are a veritable wealth of advice,
good ideas and fun.
An example of something I read was that the little paper rings that you put on toilet sheets are
actually referred to as "ass gaskets", that is the type of information that is certainly going to
help me through this :-)
Again it's this type of helpful information that makes chi.eats a great place to post. Thanks again
bearhair.
