Does anyone know this movie?

I have been looking for several years for a movie that I remember renting (or
else watching on the Disney channel) many times when I was younger. I am fairly
sure it is one of the live-action Disney films from the 50s or 60s.

The plot concerned some children in a rural farm-like area.The part that I most
remember is a boy stealing watermelons from an old man's patch, and the man
firing at him from the window. The next day, the children eat the stolen
watermelons while sitting in and near a group of trees.

Does this sound familiar to anyone here? I would be very happy if someone knows
the name of this movie!

Yes, it's called "So Dear to My Heart" -- they have carried it at WalMart
recently.

Thanks to everyone who replied, both privately and on the board. It turns out
that the movie (or mini-series actually) that I am looking for is called "For
the Love of Willadean," which aired on TV in the 1960s, and was I assume
repeated in the 1980s.

I just saw that last year on late night Vault Disney shows. I believe
it was a 2 or 3 part episode show on the Wonderful World of Disney
show. It is called "For the Love of Willadean". If I remember
correctly it is about this "city boy" who moves to the country and
these 2 boys that he meets are always trying to get him into trouble
because they don't like the fact that he's attracted to a girl named
Willadean. The younger of the two farm boys was the boy who played on
Lost in Space.

Hi Martha:

Thank you, it is definitely "For the Love of Willadean." I have tried to keep
an eye on Vault Disney to see when programs I am interested in are on, but I
suspect this is one of the ones that must have aired at 11:00 p.m.
Unfortunately, my TV guide gives no description of what the night's program
will be.

Do you happen to know when it will air again or where I can find out the
schedule for the programs appearing on Vault Disney? On a related note, I no
longer receive the Disney Channel magazine. Is it still published, and if so,
does it now cost money to subscribe?
