One of the pilots mentioned in The Illustrious Chuckie Baby's post was To
Tell the Truth - Raw Footage Unedited - Robin Ward - 7/31/80.

I attended this taping session at NBC with some of my friends. The $20,000
Pyramid had been cancelled by ABC at the end of June 1980, and we were
desperate for our in-person game show fix. Mark Goodson was at the taping,
and he taped two pilots with two Canadian emcees. I forget the name of the
other emcee, who was absolutely perfect doing the show, although rather stiff
and distant. But Goodson chose the less perfect emcee, probably because he
was much more personable and down to earth. Even Bill Todman was reputed to
have wanted game show emcees who "do warmth."
