why do people bother to put up a site if they don't plan to keep it running?
i've tried about 10 of them now, and either they're no anonymous (when they
say they are) or the password they give you is fake. the ones i did get into
on't allow uploads or downloads! why waste this ng's time with crappy home
ftp?

Most of the folks that post FTP sites run a ratio and also are simply
in it to increase their own music collection. I gave up on those losers
a long time ago....also most don't have near the bandwidth they really
should have to 'serve files'.....

If you need a lot of common (or even rare) mp3's it is hard to beat
Audio Galaxy after one removes the spyware. Also with AG once you select
the tunes you wants it remembers them for all subsequent log-ins - and -
will send them to you as others that have your requested songs in their
inventory login to AG themselves...one never needs to re-request the
same tune over and over or to search over and over

All you have to do to get all the mp3's you asked for with AG is...

1. search, select, and request once
2. connect regularly and stay connected
3. eventually you'll get them

It only took me three days to get every Thompson Twins song ever
recorded....

They probably mean well or maybe they don't know what they're doing?
Since you're tried about 10 of them, why not look to alternate file
sharing programs instead? You can download from news groups also
providing you have a decent news server.
