Hi,

I have done a lot of searching through this group and various other
sources and have yet to find an answer to this. Apologies if it's
obvious but I can't figure it out.

I'm running fetchmail -> postfix -> procmail to get my incoming mail
on a RH9 system.

I often get misaddressed email to my domain. (e.g. bill@..... which
doesn't exist). Because these all comes to one POP3 account at my ISP,
fetchmail delivers it all to my local user account.

When procmail comes to deliver it, I have a rule which bounces all
those mails sent to this POP3 mailbox as user unknown.

I tested by sending from an external account to that POP3 mailbox. The
bounce message I got back correctly said User Unknown but then
proceeded to give my local user account @ my domain.

Is there a way to get the bounce mail to give the address that the
mail was originally sent to (bill@....)

Or am I barking up the wrong tree with this one.

Thanks

Alan Connor

You can use formail to change that. See the manpage and if it's not clear,
get back to us.
