[Fax:nnnnnn] not converting to an email address

In Outlook 2002 I can type [FAX:12013561876] in the TO
field and it changes to 12013561876 (underlined) and the
email sends through my fax server fine. But, when using
Access to fill in the TO field with [FAX:12013561876] the
email TO field stays as text and it cannot be sent. Any
ideas? Or, is this more for the Access group?

Fascinating. I've never seen this reported. Can you post any more detail on
how the To: field is being populated? If it is being done programmatically,
you may need to ask in one of the programming groups. It doesn't sound like
a Fax issue per se.

I am using the SendObject command from within Access. I
place the text "[FAX:12013561876]" as an arguement to the
command. It builds the email fine but stays as text. If
you have any info on this I would appreciate it. I will
also try the Access groups.

I don't. I'd try the Outlook programming groups too to see if they have any
idea why Outlook fails to recognize and resolve the fax address when
inserted programmatically.

I'd avoid SendObject and use Outlook automation (the Outlook object
model) instead. Get the fax message as an Outlook.MailItem then add
the recipients to the Recipients collection of that email item then
resolve the recipients. That should convert the number to a resolved
number (underlined).

As a test to see if this is the problem you can open the fax item that
won't send, see if it has the fax number underlined and if not use
Ctrl+K to resolve it. If it then is underlined and can send out when
you press the Send button in the fax message then that was the
problem.

I'm glad YOU guys are having FUN. I'm pulling my hair
out. I had this working and now I get the message:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

FAX:12013561876 on 2/23/2004 11:55 AM
The e-mail address could not be found.
Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail
organization, or there was a mistake in the address.
Check the address and try again.

It works if I type it in manualy. Programatically I get
the error if I use either "Check Names" or ctrl-k. Is it
trying to resolve against my contacts list?
Also, will using Outlook Automation solve this issue?
And, can you point me to a good example?
