especiial if you are using LaTeX you should *not* use
the font embedding. Because every font will make your
EPS file larger by ca 70 kByte, say you have 100 figures
in your book and two fonts per figure, you wil get a file that
is 14000 kByte larger.
Adding wolfram.map to config.ps of dvips will automatical
include the fonts found in the EPS figures and include
the fonts only once and not 100 times.

Wouldn't it be nice if WRI said *something* about what major
bugs/"inconveniences" have been fixed when a new version is released??
(Instead of only hyping the earth-shattering new features.)

I have never seen PCTeX but typical there is a
line in your config.ps
p psfonts.map
and you have to add
p+ wolfram.map
and in your Mathematica distrubution *is* in
$TopDirectory/SystemFiles/InclideFiles/TeX/texmf/doc/wolfram
the detailed documentation how to install the map files
and font in MiKTeX and teTeX.
