I just upgraded from Ver. 4.1 to 5.0 to get the automatic embedding
of Mathematica fonts into graphics exported as .eps files. Worked well on
my first tests. Solves a big headache with my first try at the production of
a book via latex. Nice addition.

Hi,

especiial if you are using LaTeX you should *not* use
the font embedding. Because every font will make your
EPS file larger by ca 70 kByte, say you have 100 figures
in your book and two fonts per figure, you wil get a file that
is 14000 kByte larger.

Adding wolfram.map to config.ps of dvips will automatical
include the fonts found in the EPS figures and include
the fonts only once and not 100 times.

Jens

Now we're getting somewhere! Thanks for the info.

Wouldn't it be nice if WRI said *something* about what major
bugs/"inconveniences" have been fixed when a new version is released??
(Instead of only hyping the earth-shattering new features.)

Jens, I see your point, but could you elaborate on this?
I am using the PCTex distribution of LaTeX. There is
indeed a config.ps file but I have no idea how to edit this
in the manner you have suggested, nor does the distribution
provide any guidance on this.

Hi,

I have never seen PCTeX but typical there is a
line in your config.ps

p psfonts.map

and you have to add

p+ wolfram.map

and in your Mathematica distrubution *is* in

$TopDirectory/SystemFiles/InclideFiles/TeX/texmf/doc/wolfram

the detailed documentation how to install the map files
and font in MiKTeX and teTeX.

Jens
