Opera 7.50 Preview 3 for Windows is available for download. As usual,
discuss the new version in opera.beta and in the my.opera.com Beta
Testing forum. *Please do not distribute the download link directly*,
but link to the post in opera.beta or in the my.opera.com Beta Testing
forum.

Due to the experimental nature of this release, upgrading a previous
Opera installation is not recommended. If you'd like to test your
mail from 7.23 in this release, delete the \Opera\Mail\ folder, then
copy your *entire* Mail folder from 7.23 to your 7.50 Preview 3
installation.

Download Preview 3:

http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/o750p3_3658.exe (build 3658)

=== Major New Features ===
* New - Chat File Transfer *
Opera Chat now has the ability to send and receive files from other
chat clients. To initiate a transfer, right-click another user's
nickname in the nick list and choose "Send file...". Transferred
files will display in the Transfers panel/window with a green down
arrow if they're downloads and a red up arrow if they're uploads.

* Manage Dialogs are Back! *
After a lot of valuable feedback, the Manage dialogs for Bookmarks,
Contacts, Links, and History, as well as the Transfer window, are
back. They can be accessed by their keyboard shortcuts or from the
Tools menu. The maximized panels are still available too, and can be
activated using their Ctrl+Shift+# (0 to 9) keyboard shortcuts or by
double-clicking on the panel selector button.

* Drastically Improved Threading *
Threading of e-mail and newsgroup messages should be greatly improved
with this release. There were some serious problems, especially when
you started a thread.

* SDI Feels the Love *
SDI has received some much-needed attention. For instance, keyboard
shortcuts for opening and closing pages and windows have been improved
and windows close when you close the last page. It should be a much
more comfortable experience for SDI users.

* Fixed Margin Collapsing Issues *
The display issues at LiveJournal.com have been fixed. Other web
pages that had large gabs since 7.50 Preview 1 should also display
better now.

* New - System Tray Icon *
For even better notification of new messages (and perhaps more later),
Opera now has a system tray icon. When you receive new messages in
the Unread view, it will change to an envelope. You can also focus or
exit Opera from the icon's context menu.

* Better Message Selection *
Opera now does a better job displaying the message most relevant to
you when you open a Mail view. Selected messages are also remembered
across sessions, so you'll never again have to find the message you
were looking at last time you used Opera.

A detailed list of changes is available at
http://people.opera.com/tim/changelogs/w750p3.html#detail.

Great! Thanks!

Please, leave the Ctrl+Alt shortcuts for systemwide operations! This is
respected by allmost every application out there.

We are already breaking that guideline for a while, I don't think tp3
actually introduces new ones. If things really clash on your system, you
can easily change things yourself.

Personal bar, when i drag widget, the insert point is shos wrong place, and

When panel setup dialog is oopen - it all bahaves the same, so it is not

Wow! Much talked-about... and now it's arrived at last! I'm certainly
curious how this is going to turn out... ;-)

Is this new for tp3? I've always had trouble dragging when there are
fields on the toolbar.

Just a shame it doesn't seem to work at all! :-(

This reply showed up halfway down the newsgroup instead of in the original
thread!

A correction is in order - I suspected (which, as you can see above, was
confirmed as soon as I refreshed the newsgroup) that this relates to a
difference in articles fetched in preview three and preview two. :-)

So I retract my complaint... for now. ;-)

In the words of Homer: d'oh!

Nope - that fourth reply to myself was lost in the group again. See the

uc, dead nignt....

I wish there was n/g like Opera.Binary or Opera.Attaches, so...

Why? Cause i'm composing messages in offline and sending via dialup.

If i have to upload 10 attaches top FTP, and then not forget to delete them
in a, say, year... That annoys.

I know that base64 attachments grow in size by factor ~1.3 (until Opera will
use yEnc at last somewhen) - but that will be good help for little
attachments.

It often refuses ti re-order them, especially when we are messing wuth last
item or position.
But it is the first time that very marker is placed wrong place.

I'm much happier with 7.50 now. One small gripe: with a floating panel
the >> button to bring up the detailed display in bookmarks, transfers,
history and so on now works, but it doesn't stick. Closing the panels
and reopening them causes it to revert to the simple display.

> (Having the bookmarks dialog nonmodal would be nice)

It is non-modal: I can still access pages in the background so it's not
grabbing control of the entire application. It's just forcing itself to
display in front of everything else.

Hm. I guess it makes sense for the floating panel to remember that
expanded state.

I also noticed this (testing out the floating transfers panel):

With panels set to floating and the transfers panel selected with the
expanded (>>) view, click on another tab to bring another page to the
foreground. Then click on the transfers tab again. The transfers tab is
not expanded (>>) anymore. I see this with the other panels as well.

I'd rather have the ability to open up a bookmark (or any other) panel by
itself as a page. I think this will eliminate the need for (redundant)
management dialogs. Example: Transfers in the tools menu brings up the
tranfers window, which is essentially the same thing (minus some toolbar
differences) as a the transfer panel set to floating, expanded. They
appear to be different, and if they are, why? If they are the same, then
can we have the ability to open up the other panels like this?

I wonder is it better to wait until the final version to come out only
because I have quite a number of newsgroup messages and I dont want to the
server to redownload messages that I already viewed and read ,so my
question is ,is there a way to transfer the messages left on the former
version to the preview and with all the same settings I am having my own
discrepancies with 7.23 and I am dealing with those as they come up and I
dont want to inherit any buggy problems with the preview now.Any
suggestions or ideas?
